Andrew Lawrence

 

Andrew Lawrence, is an experienced and qualified lecturer, trainer and assessor in screenwriting, directing, working with actors, and a myriad of other film industry subjects and topics.

​

Recently arrived on the Gold Coast, Andrew Lawrence has worked in film and television for over 30 years. In 2002, Andrew graduated from AFTRS with a Masters (Honours) in writing and directing.

​

He has written and directed acclaimed short films, as well as written and directed television commercials and documentaries for ABC and for the NSW State Government. Andrew was mentored by Hollywood script legend Syd Field and Al Clarke for his feature script Sentido: he was selected for Screen Australia’s Development Funding twice, was finalist at SPAA MART making the only pre-sale for that year to Transmission Films. Sentido was chosen for Aurora International Script workshop where he worked under the mentorship of screen producer Christine Vachon.

He is currently working on international projects with the United Nations set in Syria, has worked with James Franco’s Elysium Bandini production company, has worked as a script doctor on British Indian co-productions and has been shortlisted for the Sundance Writers Workshop.

Andrew has lectured at Macquarie University, the University of NSW, the Academy of Film Television and Theatre School, NIDA and Sydney Film School. He was the selector and programmer of the Dungog Film Festival.
