Andrew Buchanan
 

Andrew Buchanan has been a leading actor in Queensland professional theatre for over 20 years.  He has won several prestigious Matilda Awards for Excellence in Theatre for both acting and directing.

 

Some of Andrew’s film and television credits include the new mini-series, Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door (for the Seven Network), The Gods of Wheat Street, Reef Doctors, Sisters of War, Slide, Sea Patrol, RAN, The Condemned, Monarch Cove, Mortified, Answered by Fire and Through My Eyes, as well as feature films Drive Hard (with John Cusack), and Fatal Honeymoon (with Harvey Keitel). Andrew is in demand as a Voice Over Artist for commercial radio and television. 

 

On stage, he has played a diverse range of roles for Queensland Theatre Company, La Boite Theatre, Grin & Tonic and Harvest Rain, in classic plays such as Macbeth (MacDuff), The Crucible (John Procter), No Man’s Land (Briggs), The Cherry Orchard (Lopakhin), Hamlet (Hamlet), As You Like It (Orlando), Antigone (Haemon), The Taming of the Shrew (Petruchio) and Much Ado About Nothing (Benedick): as well as contemporary productions, such as Water Falling Down, God of Carnage, The Wishing Well, Female of the Species, Cosi, Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, Bouncers, Summer of the Aliens, The Adman, The Sex Diary of an Infidel, Clark in Sarajevo and Essington Lewis: I Am Work.

 

He will soon appear in Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Chekhov’s The Present, opposite Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh.
